Over the past five years, housing has become one of the greatest challenges for survivors we serve. Both Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties have experienced challenges in having enough safe, affordable housing. Additionally, survivors of sexual violence, abuse, harassment, and trafficking have unique needs when it comes to housing instability related to their victimization. With this in mind, we pulled together a few local resources for emergency shelter and housing support options in our communities.

  • 211 – Dial PA 211, or visit their online resource guide to request case management with a housing advocate and review local resources for housing, rental assistance, utilities programs, and more.
  • Community Action Partnership – CAP programs in both counties can provide information and financial assistance when available for emergency rental assistance needs. They are also able to provide emergency hotel vouchers for short-term stays until a more secure housing placement can be found. These programs are funding dependent, and do run out at times, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you think you can benefit from these programs. Lebanon CAP and Schuylkill CAP links here.
  • Servants to All: Servants to All currently operates an Emergency Shelter Program in Pottsville, Pennsylvania and is the only general population day program shelter in Schuylkill County housing both men and women. The program provides emergency shelter to homeless men and women and daily case manager services.
  • LCCM Fresh Start – Fresh start provides up to 30 day emergency shelter stays for families facing homelessness. Dedicated to ensuring that homeless families have a warm, dry, and safe place to live as they tranistion from homelessness to independance, FRESH Start is there to provide first-responder care to those in need. To find out information about the FRESH Start program call (717)272-4400.
  • Lebanon Rescue Mission – this spiritually-based program provides both emergency shelter and longer term housing programs for men facing homelessness. This program connects to job training support and fellowship.
  • Agape – Lebanon Rescue Mission – the Agape Shelter through Lebanon Rescue mission is a shelter program for women, and women with their children that provides housing assistance for up to 1-year.

In addition to the these housing specific programs, and Domestic Violence Intervention (DVI) and Schuylkill Hope Center provide emergency shelter programs and transitional housing support specifically for victims of Domestic Violence fleeing violence. Last year, SARCC added a permanent supported housing program for sexual assault survivors, Healing At Home. If you would like to request information or be added a waiting list for that program, please contact our office at info@sarccheals.org.
