You probably know from following SARCC and Clarissa from SARCC on our social media accounts, but our prevention specialists are really busy during the school year. Almost every day of the school year, Clarissa and Julia are busy visiting different school districts, and classrooms across Lebanon and Schuylkill counties. These are important programs for our children in our communities to learn skills related to recognizing abusive behavior and how to prevent it.
You may be wondering what our top-notch prevention specialists do during the summer months. No surprise, they stay busy then too! Summer is an important time for camps, playground programs, and community outreach events.
In Schuylkill County, Miss Clarissa from SARCC will be out and about facilitating prevention programs at Summer BLAST (Better Lives Always Start Today) Programs in Pottsville, Frackville, Mahanoy City, and Tamaqua. You can also catch her at Camp Connect at Blue Mountain West. We have great partnerships with our classrooms at Child Development, and she will be sharing the Care for Kids program over the summer, to get ready for a Training of the teachers at those programs in the fall. If you’re in the Minersville area, catch Care for Kids and We Care at Minersville Elementary for CSBBH.
In Lebanon County, Julia will be at a number of summer camps and summer programs reaching students from kindergarten through middle school. If you have any kiddos who are attending camps at the YMCA SAC locations, the migrant education, summer program, or WellSpan, summer groups, and programs, you might run into her! While she is out and about, she will be bringing programs and activities from our healthy relationships, project program from Prevent Child Abuse Vermont.
All of this is in addition to the outreach events at Schuylkill and Lebanon PrideFests, United Way High School Football Challenge, County fairs, and presenting at the PCAR State Conference (Go Clarissa!).
