SARCCitude heartIn 2018, SARCC expanded to offer no-cost trauma therapy in both Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties. As part of our SARCCitude series, we will share appreciation for the therapists who provide these services, and the local and state foundations and organizations that help to sustain them.

SARCCitude =

A positive mindset where one feels appreciative and inspired to return kindness to someone who works at, for, or with SARCC.

Through a competitive VOCA grant, we hired 3 therapists and provided training and clinical supervision in evidence-based therapy techniques, including EMDR and TF-CBT. While the source funding ended and VOCA funds have consistently been cut at the federal level, we’ve been able to keep these opportunities for therapy that helps survivors heal from their trauma accessible in both counties.

We’re incredibly grateful for the local foundations and nonprofits who helped us keep these life-changing services. The Foundation for Enhancing Communities has provided support through both the Kids Trust Fund and Women’s Fund. The United Way organizations in both Schuylkill and Lebanon Counties have provided grants for children and adults to access this therapy. The WellSpan Foundation has helped to fund evidence-based therapy services at SARCC and in the community through Empower The Mind.

At the state level, violence prevention and intervention program funds from PCCD have expanded access to therapy. These streams have also created opportunities for local therapists to pursue the same evidence-based training that SARCC therapists use. These funding opportunities have been closely tied to partnerships for violence prevention work through our Communities That Care program. Continuing to provide this work as a privilege and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with these local and state funding opportunities to help survivors achieve their healing goals. The best news and all of this is that we are seeing great outcomes through our trauma therapy program. More than anything we are grateful to survivors for sharing their journeys with us.
