People who identify as LGBTQ+ experience higher rates of sexual violence, sexual abuse, harassment, and human trafficking compared to the general population. Ensuring that ALL members of our community have access to safe, supportive services and the opportunity to talk with helpers and care providers in a comfortable environment is one part of the prevention puzzle. As we enter June and Pride Month, we wanted to highlight a few important statistics on Mental Health and support in the LGBTQ+ community. We will close out by sharing information on local Pride events, where you can stop by and say “hi” to SARCC staff or pick up information to share in your communities.
